Bible Reading Plans
Three things make for a fruitful practice of
reading your Bible...
Have a time - We schedule
what is important to us, and what gets scheduled gets done. Set
a regular time to read your Bible, and treat it like a personal
appointment that you have with your Heavenly Father. Ask Him to
speak to you personally as you read His Word.
Have a place - Designate a
place where you will read. It can be a room in your house, a
chair, under a tree. It's great if the only thing you do at that
place is read your Bible. It will very quickly start to feel
like a holy place.
Have a plan - You'll get
much more from your reading if you have a plan. This is not
about being legalistic (no, God won't zap you if you miss a
day!), but it is about being intentional in your reading,
seeking to hear anything and everything that God wants to say to you as you read.
Listed
below are some sample reading plans. Choose one, and start today

Just Getting Started?
If you're just beginning to read
your Bible, a great place to start is with the first five books
in the New Testament--Matthew, Mark, Luke, John & Acts. The
first four tell the story of the life of Jesus, each with a
little different flavor and perspective...exactly what you'd
expect from people who were either eyewitnesses or who
interviewed them. Acts tells the story of the start of the
church after the resurrection of Jesus.
Got Wisdom? Need it?
The Book of Proverbs is filled with amazing wise
teachings that will help you to live by God's principles
in your home, at work...wherever you go! The book has 31
chapters, so read one chapter each day that corresponds
to that day of the month...on the 15th, read chapter 15,
etc. You'll be amazed at how intensely practical these
writings are. You can repeat this for months and never
exhaust what this book can offer you!
