I was raised in Varina (where my parents still live) and met my husband, John, shortly after I graduated from JMU when we were both employed at Westminster Canterbury Richmond. After a whirlwind romance, we were married in December 1985. God has given us two kids, Benjamin and Rachel, who are our pride and joy. I am happy to say that they both are finishing-up at VCU in 2014 and we’ll still get to see them on a fairly regular basis – no empty nest yet! Add a cat named “Pip” and a dog nicknamed “Squeak” and you have the complete Farmer clan! I became a part of the staff at New Song Church in June 2010 and feel extraordinarily blessed to be here! So far as how I came to know Christ, I grew up in a loving, Christian home and within a close-knit church; subsequently, I accepted Jesus as my Savior at an early age. During my high school and college years, I foolishly strayed from God’s path, deciding that I knew better what I wanted out of life instead of allowing God to reveal His best for me. Yet God remained faithful by continually bringing strong, Spirit-filled Christians into my life to gently remind me of His goodness, His love, His mercy and His forgiveness. When I finally came back to my senses, I began to sincerely pursue a personal relationship with Jesus. It has been an exciting journey so far and I know God will continue to reveal Himself to me as long as I continue to draw near to Him!
