VISION
Our hearts and hands are focused on reflecting Christ’s love by reaching out, inviting in, and serving others
MISSION
Making disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.
CORE VALUES
God’s love and grace are beyond our imagination. Colossians 3:23 tells us “to work as if what we do is for the Lord Himself.” We can’t help but give our best. With this emphasis in mind, New Song strives to put forth excellence with the following core values in place:
People Matter:be authentic & caring
Jesus showed that it was the people who matter. How can we do any less? We want to be in authentic and caring relationship with everyone we encounter. |
Discipleship Matters:grow in faith & relationship with Jesus
In Matthew 28:19-20, Jesus tells His disciples to “go and make disciples.” This means not only to tell others about Jesus, but also to help people to grow in their faith and in their relationship with Jesus, across the street and across the globe. |
Impact Matters:to make an impact everywhere we go
New Song’s intent is to make a difference: a difference in our community, a difference around the world. When we walk with God, we will have an impact. |
WE BELIEVE:
Jesus
Within our faith, we find making a decision for Jesus is the single-most important decision a person can make.
Saying ‘yes’ to Christ is the expression of our relationship with him as the Lord of our life.

Christian Goals
We believe the goal of the Christian life is to love God with all your heart, soul, mind and strength, and to love
your neighbor as you love yourself. We value passionate worship, relevant preaching, small groups to hold
Christians accountable to one another, and serving those who are in need.

Foundational Scripture
To focus our ministry with Scripture, we turn to Matthew 22: 36-40 every single day. “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?” Jesus replied: "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind." This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: "Love your neighbor as yourself." All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.” To simply state this Scripture, we are to “Love God, Love People, Serve All!”
Jesus: why we do what we do
Within our faith, we find making a decision for Jesus is the single-most important decision a person can make. Saying ‘yes’ to Christ is the expression of our relationship with him as the Lord of our life. Jesus knew of our bent towards sin; we always have an option away from doing the wrong thing, but it’s not always the case that we’ll take God up on such an opportunity. Jesus didn’t want to leave us in the pit of our own sin - Jesus had it in mind to give us a life that would last forever. The church calls this forever life “eternity” – the promise of salvation that comes through a solid, obedient, relationship with Jesus. This life is marked by tons of grace and forgiveness, along with generosity of spirit. To say you are a Christ-follower isn’t just something you mark on a census form; it’s who you are to the core of your being… it’s who you become.
God’s Word says this in John 10:10, “I have come that they may have life and have it to the full.” Jesus isn’t trying to cheat you out of fun or rob you of your best life now. In fact, Jesus is inviting you to the life-changing and awe-inspiring realities that come with a relationship to accountability, humility, service, worship, and discipleship. From the very beginning of time, you were not a secret to God. At no point have we surprised God with our decisions, actions, successes, or mistakes. John’s Gospel captures this concept: “This is how much God loved the world: He gave his Son, his one and only Son. And this is why: so that no one need be destroyed; by believing in him, anyone can have a whole and lasting life.” (John 3:16, TM)
At New Song, we understand that the church belongs to God, first, and that the church is ‘the Body of Christ.’ As Christ’s Body, we are called to do God’s will and be the physical presence of Christ in the world. We have much to accomplish – not for fame’s or gratitude’s sake, but for the work God has set out to be accomplished.
Jesus invites us to no longer feel lost and alone, but found by God. As one author put it, “It's to know that after feeling worthless, we've been redeemed” – but not by our initiatives, it’s by God’s. Salvation through Christ is a gracious gift from above. It’s God’s love that knows all our faults and failures, and still embraces us right here, right now. The hardest part of stepping into a relationship with Christ is knowing that the heaviest lifting has already been done by the One who knows us best… that we can have faith in a God who loves us, despite us. We have to trust that “While we were yet sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8) – not because WE were perfect, but exactly the opposite: because we’ll NEVER be perfect on our own!
God does what God promises; God says what God means. God loves you: it may be hard to believe, but it’s true! Through faith in Christ, we believe that “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” (Romans 10:13) When we turn away from all that has separated us from where God is, we begin seeing what Jesus meant when he said, “You must be born again.” (John 3:7) This ‘new life in Christ’ is a gift of the Holy Spirit. Having this ‘new life’ doesn’t mean we’ll never sin again or mess up; but it does mean our hearts will always know our spiritual home where we find refuge, guidance and hope. There, we’re called to hear the direction of what Jesus said, “Go and sin no more” (John 8:11). From there, we continue to learn in faith about God and how to be more Christ-like.

Baptism
Baptism is the beginning of a lifelong journey of faith. The sacrament of baptism gives us identity as the people for whom Jesus Christ lived, died, and was resurrected. In baptism we are incorporated into the community of God's people, the body of Christ. Our United Methodist theology notes that it makes no difference whether you are baptized as an adult or as a child; we all start on that journey at baptism.
For the child, the journey of faith begins not only in the family, but also in the nurturing community of the church. This community promises to help nurture the child in their Christian faith. At the appropriate time, often between the ages of 9-13, the child will make his or her first confession of faith in the ritual the church traditionally calls Confirmation.
For the infant, this commitment on behalf of the baby is that their life will be raised through the virtues and values of faith. In the New Testament at the time of Pentecost, whole households were baptized – men, women, and children. We know, also, that Jesus said to “let the little children come to me.” Our congregational pledge to all in this journey through baptism is to “help perfect them in love.” We will do our very best to walk with one another for all our days, holding one another accountable and living out our faith as contained in the Old and New Testaments.
At New Song Church, it is our privilege to baptize infants through adults. If you, or one of your loved ones, is interested in exploring baptism in our church, we encourage you to make an appointment with one of our pastors so that you may discern fully all that is at stake within this Sacrament.
New Song Church participates in multiple forms of baptism throughout the year – at the River (typically in August), in our Sunday morning worship services, or in local baptismal pools in neighboring churches or the surrounding community. Contact our Church Office today to schedule your appointment and launch into this exciting “YES!” for Christ!
