Heather Shaheen
My husband, Mike, and I have been married since 1996. We have one son, Michael, who was born in 1998, and one daughter, Emily, who was born in 2001. Our pets Sharkey (dog) and Princess (cat), round out our family tree. During my childhood, our family moved quite a bit between Georgia, Texas, and Virginia. However, most of my years have been in Virginia. We have been in Mechanicsville since we were married in 1996. My favorite hobbies are playing softball, horseback riding and running. My most favorite activity is spending time with my husband and 2 children. We came to New Song in August 1998, when I was pregnant with our son. We were seeking a church where we could raise our family. We discovered New Song through a flyer in our newspaper box and the rest was history. We have always loved being a part of the New Song family, with kind and compassionate people, who have wonderful hearts of service for all of God’s children. I have always believed in Christ. In 1999, my relationship with Christ grew to an all new level after the death of my grandmother with whom I was very close. It was the first time I had truly felt and understood God’s presence in my life and the power of His love for me. I felt like no matter what, God would be there and I could get through anything as long as I had God in my life.
