Specialization: Individual, Family and Group therapy for adults and teens suffering from alcohol and drug use including relapse. Provide codependency & support counseling to spouse & family members. Meet court requirements for all alcohol & drug violations for adults & adolescents. ASAP Provider / ASAM Certified. Over 13 years' experience in Mental Health, counseling men, women, teens & seniors from 14 yrs. of age and up. Over 30 years parenting experience, providing counsel on adult and adolescent parenting.
Experience in the following: anxiety, depression, coping, relationships issues, life transitions, divorce, domestic abuse, drug and alcohol abuse, men and women’s issues, self-esteem, grief, stress, Spirituality, trauma, infidelity, etc.
Education:
- Master of Social Work degree from Catholic University, Washington, DC
- Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from VCU
- Bachelor of Science degree in Mass Communications from VCU
Credentialing:
- State certification as a Substance Abuse Counselor by the VA Board of Health Professions
- Supervision is conducted by Heather Shaheen, LCSW
